فَأَجَابَ وَقَالَ لَهُمْ:«أَمَا قَرَأْتُمْ أَنَّ الَّذِي خَلَقَ مِنَ الْبَدْءِ خَلَقَهُمَا ذَكَرًا وَأُنْثَى؟ وَقَالَ: مِنْ أَجْلِ هذَا يَتْرُكُ الرَّجُلُ أَبَاهُ وَأُمَّهُ وَيَلْتَصِقُ بِامْرَأَتِهِ، وَيَكُونُ الاثْنَانِ جَسَدًا وَاحِدًا. إِذًا لَيْسَا بَعْدُ اثْنَيْنِ بَلْ جَسَدٌ وَاحِدٌ. فَالَّذِي جَمَعَهُ اللهُ لاَ يُفَرِّقُهُ إِنْسَانٌ».

"وَقِيلَ: مَنْ طَلَّقَ امْرَأَتَهُ فَلْيُعْطِهَا كِتَابَ طَلاَق .وَأَمَّا أَنَا فَأَقُولُ لَكُمْ: إِنَّ مَنْ طَلَّقَ امْرَأَتَهُ إلاَّ لِعِلَّةِ الزِّنَى يَجْعَلُهَا تَزْنِي، وَمَنْ يَتَزَوَّجُ مُطَلَّقَةً فَإِنَّهُ يَزْنِي." (متى 5: 31-32)

"وَسَأَلَهُ وَاحِدٌ مِنْهُمْ، وَهُوَ نَامُوسِيٌّ، لِيُجَرِّبَهُ قِائِلاً: «يَا مُعَلِّمُ، أَيَّةُ وَصِيَّةٍ هِيَ الْعُظْمَى فِي النَّامُوسِ؟» فَقَالَ لَهُ يَسُوعُ:«تُحِبُّ الرَّبَّ إِلهَكَ مِنْ كُلِّ قَلْبِكَ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ نَفْسِكَ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ فِكْرِكَ. هذِهِ هِيَ الْوَصِيَّةُ الأُولَى وَالْعُظْمَى. وَالثَّانِيَةُ مِثْلُهَا: تُحِبُّ قَرِيبَكَ كَنَفْسِكَ. بِهَاتَيْنِ الْوَصِيَّتَيْنِ يَتَعَلَّقُ النَّامُوسُ كُلُّهُ وَالأَنْبِيَاءُ»." "وَأَمَّا ٱلْإِيمَانُ فَهُوَ ٱلثِّقَةُ بِمَا يُرْجَى وَٱلْإِيقَانُ بِأُمُورٍ لَا تُرَى. فَإِنَّهُ فِي هَذَا شُهِدَ لِلْقُدَمَاءِ. بِٱلْإِيمَانِ نَفْهَمُ أَنَّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ أُتْقِنَتْ بِكَلِمَةِ ٱللهِ، حَتَّى لَمْ يَتَكَوَّنْ مَا يُرَى مِمَّا هُوَ ظَاهِرٌ." (الإنجيل العبرانيين 11: 1-3)
