The Message of Peace in Isa’s Teachings

The message of Isa (His peace be upon us) is fundamentally about peace with God, peace among people, and peace within oneself. Sayidna Isa’s (His peace be upon us) life and teachings radiate a call for reconciliation, healing, and hope, transcending personal, societal, and global conflicts. His role as the “Prince of Peace,” prophesied by Prophet Isaiah and proclaimed by angels at his birth, is vividly evident in his words and actions.

Sayidna Isa’s (His peace be upon us) message of peace addresses three critical dimensions of human existence: (1) peace with Allah, (2) peace with others, and (3) peace within ourselves.

At the heart of Sayidna Isa’s (His peace be upon us) mission is restoring humanity’s relationship with Allah. He taught that true peace begins with acknowledging Allah’s sovereignty, seeking forgiveness for sins, and aligning one’s life with divine will.

In the Injil, Sayidna Isa (His peace be upon us) said: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not be afraid” (Injil, John 14:27).

This peace is not merely a feeling but a profound reconciliation with the Creator. Sayidna Isa (His peace be upon us) emphasized repentance, humility, and faith as the keys to this peace. His teachings invite us to recognize Allah’s mercy and seek His guidance, knowing Allah’s love is greater than our failures.

In the Qur’an, Sayidna Isa (His peace be upon us) is portrayed as a sign of Allah’s mercy and a bridge to understanding divine truth: “And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and We gave them refuge on a high ground, a place of rest and flowing water” (Al-Mu’minun 23:50). This resonates with the idea of Sayidna Isa (His peace be upon us) as one who brings humanity closer to Allah, offering rest for the soul.

Sayidna Isa’s (His peace be upon us) teachings about peace extend beyond the individual to relationships with others. In a world plagued by hatred, division, and violence, Sayidna Isa’s (His peace be upon us) message calls for radical love, forgiveness, and reconciliation. He taught: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God” (Injil, Matthew 5:9). He challenged his followers to overcome enmity with love and to forgive not just once, but repeatedly. He emphasized humility and service, even toward those who wrong us.

One striking example is his teaching in the Injil: “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven” (Injil, Matthew 5:43-45).

This commandment transforms relationships, breaking the cycle of revenge and fostering genuine peace. Its principle resonates deeply with the qur’anic ideal of forgiveness and mercy: “Repel evil with what is better, and thereupon the one whom between you and him is enmity will become as though he were a devoted friend” (Fussilat 41:34). Sayidna Isa’s message (His peace be upon us) challenges us to build bridges, seek understanding, and prioritize peace over conflict.

Many struggles with inner peace, especially those enduring hardship, war, or uncertainty. Isa spoke directly to the weary and burdened, offering them rest and hope. He said: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Injil, Matthew 11:28-29).

Sayidna Isa’s (His peace be upon us) teachings provide a pathway to inner peace by encouraging trust in Allah’s provision and sovereignty. He reminded his followers not to be consumed by anxiety about material needs or the future: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” (Injil, Matthew 6:25).

His life itself is an example of inner peace amid trials. Despite facing rejection, betrayal, and suffering, Isa remained steadfast in his mission, trusting in God’s plan. This trust is a source of strength for anyone navigating life’s challenges.

Sayidna Isa’s (His peace be upon us) message of peace is as relevant today as 2,000 years ago. In a world marred by division, Sayidna Isa (His peace be upon us) reminds us that peace begins with reconciliation—with Allah, others, and within ourselves. His life and teachings challenge us to rise above hatred, forgive, and love deeply.

Sayidna Isa (His peace be upon us) offers hope for those suffering. His words bring comfort to the grieving and strength to the weary. His promise of peace is not a fleeting feeling but a transformative reality grounded in faith and trust in Allah. To all who seek peace, Sayidna Isa’s (His peace be upon us) invitation still stands: “Peace be with you.” May his message inspire us to become agents of peace in our families, communities, and the world.
