{"id":1702,"date":"2018-11-07T17:06:45","date_gmt":"2018-11-07T17:06:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dreamsofisa.org\/?p=1702"},"modified":"2020-11-21T21:54:55","modified_gmt":"2020-11-22T02:54:55","slug":"our-god-is-one","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dreamsofisa.org\/tr\/our-god-is-one\/","title":{"rendered":"Tanr\u0131m\u0131z Bir"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\u201cDo not dispute with the People of the Book except in a manner which is best, barring such of them as are wrongdoers, and say, We believe in that which has been sent down to us and has been sent down to you; <strong>our God and your God is one [and the same], and to Him do we submit<\/strong>.\u201d (Al-Ankabot 29: 46)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Qur\u2019an confirms that the God both \u201cAhlal Al-Kitab\u201d People of the Book and the Muslims worship is the same. We want to look together at some names of God in both the Bible and the Qur\u2019an.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201cIn the beginning God [Elohim] created the Heavens and the Earth\u201d Genesis (1:1)<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The first name we see that the Bible uses for God is Elohim\u0625\u0644\u0648\u0647\u064a\u0645 , in Hebrew language when the suffix \u2018-im\u2019 is added to Eloah, it speaks of plurality, and \u2018Elohim\u2019 means Almighty God or gods, in plural. In Aramaic, the word that is used for God is Elah \u0625\u0644\u0647, the same word is used for God in Arabic. Also, in Arabic the name is used for God in the Qur\u2019an is Allah \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647, which is derived from Eloah, Elohim, and Elah. These names come from the same root, as the three languages have sematic roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201cAnd the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful [<em>Rakhum<\/em>] \u0631\u062e\u0648\u0645 \u0623\u0648 \u0631\u062d\u064a\u0645 and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth\u201d (Exodus 34:6).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Each chapter of the Qur\u2019an begins with this phrase \u201cIn the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful (Rahim)\u201d \u0628\u0650\u0633\u0645\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u064e\u0651\u0647\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0631\u064e\u0651\u062d\u0645\u0670\u0646\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0631\u064e\u0651\u062d\u064a\u0645\u0650. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rachum and Rahman have the same Semitic root R-H-M \u0631\u062d\u0645. Both mean Compassionate and Merciful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201cHear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one (Echad).\u201d (Deuteronomy 6:4)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In this verse, one is a translation of the Hebrew Echad \u0623\u062e\u0627\u062f \u0623\u0648 \u0623\u062d\u062f. This verse in Jewish tradition is the declaration of belief in the One True God YAWH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Isa Al-Masih quoted the same verse answering a question, \u201cThe most important one, answered Jesus, is this: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one (Echad).\u201d (Mark 12:29)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Qur\u2019an uses thje same name, \u201cSay, \u2018He is Allah, the One (Ahad).\u201d \u0642\u064f\u0644 \u0647\u064f\u0648\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0644\u064e\u0651\u0647\u064f \u0623\u064e\u062d\u064e\u062f\u064c (Al-Ikhlas 112: 1). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ahad is the Arabic and Echad in Hebrew both mean One, Only, and Alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201cWhich He will bring about at the proper time&#8211;He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords\u201d (1 Timothy 6: 15)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Qur\u2019an also use the same name for Allah, \u201cSay, \u2018O Allah, Master of all sovereignty (Malik Al-Molk) \u0645\u0644\u0643 \u0627\u0644\u0645\u0644\u0643! You give sovereignty to whomever You wish, and strip of sovereignty whomever You wish; You make mighty whomever You wish, and You abase whomever You wish; all good is in Your hand.
