{"id":2015,"date":"2019-03-11T19:48:17","date_gmt":"2019-03-11T19:48:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dreamsofisa.org\/?p=2015"},"modified":"2021-03-03T05:54:52","modified_gmt":"2021-03-03T10:54:52","slug":"the-true-faith-according-to-the-quran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dreamsofisa.org\/en\/the-true-faith-according-to-the-quran\/","title":{"rendered":"The True Faith According to the Qur\u2019an"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\u201cSay, \u2018O\npeople, I am the Messenger of God to you all\u2014He to whom belongs the kingdom of\nthe heavens and the earth. There is no god but He. He gives life and causes\ndeath.\u2019 So believe in God and His Messenger, the Illiterate Prophet, who\nbelieves in God and His words. And follow him, that you may be guided\u201d (Al-A\u2019raf\n7: 158).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Qur\u2019an\nclearly states in this verse what true faith is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>To believe in God the King of the heavens and the\nearth<\/li><li>There is no God except Allah <\/li><li>God is the one who gives life and causes death<\/li><li>Belief in God and His Words or Word<\/li><li>Follow the faith of the Illiterate Prophet<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The question\nthat arises is what are the words of God or the Word of God that the Illiterate\nProphet believes in? Here I would like to share some of what the commentators\nof the Qur\u2019an said about this verse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHis words\nare the words of God Almighty written by the Torah, the Bible and the Qur\u2019an\u201d\n(Tafseer al-Qurtubi).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMujahid and\nal-Sadi said: It means, Isa son of Mary <strong>and it reads \u2018His Word\u2019<\/strong>.\u201d (Tafseer\nal-Baghawi).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOthers\nsaid: \u2018He who believes in Allah and His words said: \u201cIsa Ibn Maryam peace be\nupon Him&#8230;\u201d And Muhammad ibn al-Hussein told me, \u201cAhmed told us, he told us,\nand he told us: \u2018He who believes in God and His words\u2019 is Jesus the Son of Mary\u201d\n(Tafseer al-Tabari).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore,\nthe true faith is only based on the faith in the Torah and the Gospel, and in\nthe Word of God Jesus the Son of Mary. True faith is what the words of God proclaim\nin the Tawrat and the Gospel about Christ (His peace be upon us) the Word of\nGod.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indeed, the\nQur\u2019an clearly explains this faith in Surat Al-Tawba: \u201cThey have taken their\nrabbis and their priests as lords instead of God, as well as the Messiah son of\nMary. Although they were commanded to worship none but The One God. There is no\ngod except He. Glory be to Him; High above what they associate with Him\u201d (Al-Tawba\n9:31). Note here that the true faith is to worship God and Christ (the One and\nTrue God).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Angels\nsaid, O Mary, God gives you good news of a Word from Him. His name is the\nMessiah, Jesus, son of Mary, well-esteemed in this world and the next, and one\nof the nearest\u201d (Al-Imran 3:45).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThen the\nangels called out to him, as he stood praying in the sanctuary: God gives you\ngood news of John; confirming a Word from God, and honorable, and moral, and a\nprophet; one of the upright\u201d (Al-Imran 3: 39).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the\ninterpretation of this verse, Al-Tabari says: \u201cHe was confirming a word from\nGod. He said: \u2018Isa, the son of Mary, is the word of God, his name is Christ &#8230;\u2019\nYahya was the first to believe in Jesus and testified that he was a word from\nGod &#8230;believing in Isa Ibn (son) Maryam, following His laws and ways&#8230; He\nsaid: He was the first man to believe in Isa, He is a Word of God and Spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his\ncommentary on this verse, Al-Qurtubi said: \u201cHe is called a Word because people\nare guided by Him as they are guided by the words of Allah.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al-Tabari\nsaid: \u201cMary, when she bore Jesus, also learned that her sister was pregnant\nwith Yahya. When Mary went to visit her sister, her sister said, \u201cMary, did you\nfeel that I was pregnant?\u201d Mary said to her, \u201cDid you know that I was pregnant?\u201d\nShe said to her, \u201cI find what is in my womb prostrates to the one in your womb.\u201d\nHow does an unborn child prostrate to another child? Does this mean that the\nchild is not a normal child? How does God allow one of His prophets to\nprostrate to someone other than God?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Word is God revealed &#8230; the Word is the essences of the divine, but not another,\u201d said Sheikh Muhi al-Din al-Arabi. (The Bezels of Wisdom Part II, page 35). He also said, \u201cThe Word is the Divinity\u201d (p. 13).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Qur\u2019an\nrepeats what Yahya ben Zakaria (John the Baptist) said when he saw Isa (His\npeace be upon us), \u201cThe next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, \u2018Behold!\nThe Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!&#8230; And I have seen and\ntestified that this is the Son of God\u2019\u201d&nbsp;\n(Injil, John 1:29-34).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is the\nfaith that both the Tawrat and the Injil proclaim about the Word of God, Isa\nAl-Masih (His peace be upon us)?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it\u2026 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth\u201d (Injil, John 1:1-5, 14).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI and My\nFather are one\u201d (Injil, John 10:30).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnd this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent\u2026 I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.  And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one\u201d (Injil, John 17:3, 20-22).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cSay, \u2018O people, I am the Messenger of God to you all\u2014He to whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth.
